This is who I am

I am a Muslim,a poetess,a wife, a mother,a Nana of 9 special grandpeople,a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a great aunt, a sista, a friend. I have decided to write when I want to and to do any other thing that I want to so long as it does not infringe upon the rights of others or more importantly, as long as it does not go against Allaah's Commandments in His Book, the Noble Quran. I believe that I have paid some dues and that since I am in middle life ( and Allaah knows best) that my choices have to be mine alone. I dont seek fame and fortune, all I want to do is live this life to the fullest extent and enjoy my PEACE, SERENITY,SOLACE and my SPACE. I thank my Creator for giving me all that I have and for His blessing upon me and my family. He is Amazing, Wonderful and Merciful. I am very grateful.

I am happy that you have decided to come and sit with me. My intention here is to share my words from my center with you. These are words that I write to watch them flow from my pen, watch them dance across my pages and to feel their power as they convey what is in my heart. I chew sweet gum and think sweet thoughts.

I started writing poetry when I was in 5th grade. A kind and gentle teacher told me that it was okay to express myself in this way. I kept a lock and key diary, but I soon gave it up because people would read it without my permission. Nothing was sacred and special for me anymore or anywhere. I began to keep the poems and thoughts in my head. One day my head exploded and all of those words left me. They were replaced with what you will read here. There will be some love, some pain, some fun, some horror, some light and some darkness. Whatever it is, it is mine.

I share it because I have to. Today writing my words keeps me free. I have learned how to use them expressly for that purpose. The release that I feel from these expressions is indescribable. You may not feel it but you will feel my excitement about it. Read them and you will see.

I have found my voice. This is a delicious feeling. Delicious like gourmet milk chocolate melting slowly on my tongue. LOL. Really.

Please feel free to leave comments. Thank you for your support. I truly appreciate it.

Lovingly ,

~~~ 'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE JUMUAH ~~~
on Monday, March 15, 2010
'twas the night before Jumuah
and all through the house
a sister gets the man
ready to leave his bayt
cant be late
she takes down the garment
that was hung with such care
goes down to the laundry
'cause the iron is there
pressin' and steamin'
got to get it just right
he's representin' me
so he has to be tight
now press the izar
and hit the ghutra too
he'd better put on his long johns
winter is far from through
brush off the Timbs
so that I can get a share
of the blessings he will earn
from taking steps to get there
brush off the pea coat
find a koofie that's white
take it all upstairs
cause now I know
my man is right !
his head is shaved bald
shea buttered to a shine
his beard is red henna
lookin' so so fine
what's that smell ?
  that would be the Oud...
driving me crazy
it's gonna make me feel jealous
i already know
cause the street females will be lookin'
4 sho'
lookin and wonderin'
what is it that's new
he' is a pure, devout, MUSLIM
way too good for you.
He's KRISPY !!!
